As a teacher organization we strive to improve the learning environment for our students both inside and outside the classroom. There are many active non-profit organizations across Ontario that offer coding, robotics, and STEM learning opportunities for K-12 students.
The following organizations have either presented at our annual conference or ACSE members have been directly involved in their student outreach programs in some capacity.
Technovation Challenge
Technovation is a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls and families to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers. They offer two programs – Technovation Girls and Technovation Families – which bring kids and adults together to solve big problems in their communities.
The annual Technovation challenge runs from January through April. Students can form teams in school or as a community group. There is a junior and senior division and free curriculum is provided to guide students on how to create mobile applications.
There are many in-person regional events held in May across the province Ottawa, Waterloo, Niagara Falls, Toronto.
Girls Who Code
Girls Who Code is an international non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology by teaching girls computer science, bravery, and sisterhood.
Kids Code Jeunesse
Kids Code Jeunesse is a Canadian non-profit organization that offers many programs across the province for K-8 students to learn about computing and computer science.
Hackergal
Hackergal is a Canadian non-profit organization that runs excellent theme-based hackathons twice a year for Grade 6-9 students.
Actua
Actua is a Canadian non-profit organization with a partner network to deliver many programs including codemakers.
